Lees McRae college is set to take on NC Central today at 3:30 and 5:30 at Watauga High School's softball field. Lees McRae has several area players on the squad including Winebarger, Austin, and Benfield from South Caldwell, and Rucker (redshirt) and Freeman (injured) from Watauga. I'll try to post later if there is a change in the schedule.

Question rams12bb, do you have a DD playing for Lees McRae ?? I have with Milligan and we have two double headers with ya'll. We need to meet up at the games and share some war stories over coffee.

he is involved in coaching in the Boone area and follows their progress closely. Great young fan of the game and an outstanding coach to lead the "Next Generation"

Thanks for the compliments, cfball.

I don't think Nora is playing this year. She's not on the roster, and wasn't at the field the other day. I heard, but can't remember why. I can't remember if she transferred, or if she's still there and something with her classes kept her from playing.

Hanger4, check your pm.

I've only got to see Lees McRae once this year but they have a much improved team over last year and form what I've read have already surpassed last years win total by several games. From the game I saw and the reports I've been given the South Caldwell Freshman are doing really well up there. Keri Austin is a starter in left field and hitting in the top of the line up usually 1st or 2nd. Heather Benfield is the starting 2nd baseman and batting in the cleanup spot and Stephanie Winebarger is pitching and playing some infield and outfield. All three are hitting the ball well and playing solid defense. I won't get to see them much but am sure the proud SC parents will keep me informed. Rams12bb keep me updated on the SC girls if you can

I know this is LMC post but I have to mention another of last years SC graduates Ashley Adams who is at Walters State playing first base and doing quite well also.

Congratulations girls keep up the good work!!!

Megan Phillips of Butler HS in Matthews plays at L/M. She injured her shoulder and will have surgery so did not get to pitch much. New coach this year seemed to have the respect of the girls so hopefully she can pick up some good recruits.
