Bardo has earned his first Friday start today verus St. Francis (N.Y.). :drums: I know that there are many who will be glad to know.

I apologize for not placing this thread, as well as Rob Wilson's thread, under "our guys in college", I just want to make sure that people are getting the "heads up" now and not a week from now.

On a side note, I appreciate all of the information and details about the this year's high school season. I can't wait and hope to have some opportunities to get down there and see some games. Thanks a lot.

Charlotte's Daniel Bard (3-0) fired a complete game, two-hit shutout to lead North Carolina (11-3) to a 1-0 victory over California (10-13) today in Chapel Hill.

Bard beat Cal ace Adam Gold (4-2) for his third win in four collegiate starts, and he recorded his first complete game. He struck out six and walked just one, and he did not allow a hit after the fourth inning. Only two Cal runners reached second base all afternoon.

With the shutout, Bard lowered his earned run average to 0.92. He has allowed just three earned runs in 29.1 innings pitched and has struck out 24 batters.

i think it is a little to early to tell, but he will be very good, the kid has got a lot of talent, he's it 87 on the gun a few times this year.

looks like this is one big time pitcher for the Heels

Bard pitched a three hit shutout over six innings as the Heels whipped FSU 10-4. :xyzthumbs

No question Wossa, the kid is legit....easy arm action, but the ball leaves his hand like a bullet, with movement

By the way, great win against Rose yesterday.

Congrats to Daniel. I was fortunate to watch him in person in Atlanta last Friday night. Here is more from the UNC website...

"On the strength of a perfect 6-0 record after eight collegiate starts, North Carolina right-hander Daniel Bard was named the nation's top freshman pitcher at the midseason point by Baseball America Friday. Additionally, he was one of five rookie hurlers named to the Midseason Freshman All-America team.

A Charlotte native, Bard is 6-0 on the year with a team-best 2.26 earned run average. He has allowed just 38 hits in 55.2 innings and has struck out 44 batters against just 17 walks. In Atlantic Coast Conference play, Bard is 3-0 with a 3.76 ERA. He ranks fourth in the league in ERA and also stands first or second in wins, innings per start (6.96), shutouts (1) and opponent batting average (.193)."
