note to the ones who know me personally:
my DD for some reason decided that playing college tennis was a better fit for her :huh: and is currently a JR. and plays third seed BAC Tennis team.
glad we spent the $$ and countless hours playing tennis along with softball when she was younger

Congrats on the win over spartanburg ladies! Just a word on Blackwelder and her recovering injury. She may have returned to the game a little less than herself, but trust me, you won't keep this kid down!! Been following this "workhorse" for a long time and she will be back throwing her killer of a curve and STRIKE-OUT riseball before most players realize she was gone!!! Keep up the hard work as you always have #2 because I know you alone have more heart for this game than most teams have combined!! The Abbey lost game one against Limestone 1-0 behind Keri Blackwelders one hitter (costly errors again) but won game two 6-3, Leigh Carter(South Point HS) is playing and generally hitting like the All Conference player she has earned this year. Congrats to LeighLeigh.....:applause:
her avg should be around .400 and all those doubles/HRs, she is an All-CVAC (D2) performer!!!!
1-0 and 2-1 wins...........nice CVAC sweep and they play St Andrews tommorrow(DH)
BAC's conference record is now 9-5 and could finish as high as second place in the CVAC....good luck today ladies!

Mt Olive won.......game two the off speed pitcher had Limestone off balance the whole time. 2-1 in 8 or 9 innings and 5-0
limestone suffering from their whole OF deciding not to play softball in '04 and a Canadian pitcher not returning South this year.
Mt Olive is improving and impressed with the new staff and attitude there! :applause:

13-5 in conference and 25-24 overall
today by the Crusaders at Mt Olive would earn Belmont Abbey their first ever Second Place finish during the regular season and a #2 seed in this weekend's CVAC tournament. This would have the Abbey only missing a share of the title by One Game (15-5 conference record and 27-24 overall). Coach Lee Swanson has definitely bought a winning formula from Iowa with him and these 10 young ladies have truely stepped up their game under his leadership> Congrats to THE ABBEY AND Good Luck today and in this weekend's tourney! :applause:
one suggestion....well Two actually......hit the ball hard somewhere and play fundamental Defense and earn that trip to the regionals!! :xyzthumbs

I think that is the best finish for both schools. Congrats to the ABBEY for their STRONG finish. If both teams win today (I'll be there).They will play each other Sat afternoon. Id love to see a BAC / Anderson Championship game. Good luck to all CVAC teams.

BAC is the only remaining undefeated team in Florence......defeated Queens and Coker today and now must wait till Sunday 4pm for the others to fight thru the losers bracket. Coker, Anderson, Limestone/Queens(in extra innings as of this post) will start up at 11am Sunday and need 2 wins to advanced to the CVAC Championship against Belmont Abbey.

The defense behind Blackwelder as well as her pitching stepped it up a notch after the first inning. The win was a great team effort by all. Leigh Carter, Haylie Claussen and Stephanie Spink were named to the All-Tournament team and Keri Blackwelder was named tourney MVP.

indeed it is Sweet and thrilling! The Abbey finally got a Coach who can enhance their abilities, motivate and gets them to perform at a high level. After seeing them go 10-1 during the fall season, i had a great feeling about this years team and they are now in the their first ever Regionals. obviously i am still :banana: :banana:
the Pisgah/Owen game is impossible for me as i have lessons and future hs flame throwers willing to work so hopefully next week we can get up there for some games. thanks for the invitation though!

National championship will be played in Altamonte Springs, FL (Orlanda area) as will the other D2 spring sports(first ever for D2). www.ncaasport.com May 11-16 is the national tournament dates so............
48 teams at 8 sites around the country and i would dare to say..either FL or GA for this regional.......hope GA, dont you guys? FL last year though
should be published by the end of the month or the first few days of May, if they do as they have in the past. I vote we play the regionals at Kennesaw State.......any seconds? :D

Im glad you found us. What teams (college and prep) do you play,root for?
As far as your attempt to downplay the Abbeys Fantastic season. Let me explain a few things.
First I have a DD that pitches for another CVAC school and we (school and family) were happy to see them make the regionals. They played well, overcame injuries to key players and toughed it out all year. I cannot think
of a more deserving team in our conf. to advance to the regionals. I wish them the best of luck, but no matter where they finish the players and coach have earned the respect of anyone that knows and loves our sport.
Please think about that before you post again. cheap shots only serve to make ones credibility on this board less meaningful, and hurts the game in general.
I watched the USCS/BAC games this year. BAC has the hitters. They are a threat to anyone because they have the potential to outscore anyone.
The Abbey lost 4-1 to North Florida yesterday in the regionals and we play this afternoon at 5pm in the elimination round. Spinks garnered the only hit for the Abbey.
first ever trip to the regionals for any softball team out of Belmont Abbey and these fans here in Boiling Springs are extremely proud of them, win or loss

Spink and Hallie the announcers had great things to say about the 2 of you. Listened to it on the radio and the announcers were pretty much cutting down everyone else on the team so it was nice to finally hear them say somthing good. They were definately for North Florida. Look forward to seeing you in Florida when you come and watch Mandy play.

#3 seed Presbyterian will play #2 seed Armstrong Atlantic State Saturday, May 8 at 12 noon in elimination bracket final

Mandy is a former player of the abbeys who is transferring to a d2 school in florida next year to play ball. Hallie and Spink are 2 of her best friends so it was great to see them do well in the tourney. Hope to see spink there next year in the regionals also

in the north florida game they were cutting down the way everyone was batting and saying everyone was dropping their shoulders and were never going to get any hits . then kari threw a change up and they said her change up was not good because in order to have a good change up you have to have a pitcher with a lot of speed and movement and she had neither one. you know that was not right to say. then they kept calling cameron vangundy and vangundy cameron. then they were saying cameron did not have a lot of range. they did say you were scrappy the way you went after one ball. said decent things about spink and said what a great hitter she was. they did say that when belmont played north florida earlier in the season it was a better game but that they also had 2 different pitchers out there. every time they hit the ball you would have thought it was a homerun. they kept saying that every ball that was hit was up against the fence. my dad said if i was still playing he would have been ticked to listen to the announcers. in the 2nd game for the first 2 innings you were the pitcher. finally after 2 innings they corrected their mistake. that was pretty funny. kept carrying on about how we were not hitting and one time spink went after a ball and they said she looked like a ballerina. they said she tried so hard byt must have taken ballet lessons. pretty funny. they liked the way haley was trying so hard in the outfield. the announcers in the 2nd game were a lot better than the first game. those announcers were awful.

they also kept calling coach swanson coach evans and saying he had his hands on his hips the whole time and they could tell he was not happy. that was in teh 2nd game. they were jerks and i would not worry about what they said. get them next year and make then think different.. have fun in hawaii have fun learning how to surf- peace out
