View Full Version : Went to see Dead Kennedy's last night
Oh my. What a freakin show!!! Never realized how good this band was. And the opening band may be big one day too. They are called Man Will Destroy Himself. The drummer is from CoC. They play mostly covers but the absolutely rock. The spikes, leather, and mohawks were out in full force. I love that shit.

who is DK's lead singer now??????????
Not sure. I've never followed them. He sounded like the original dude, or is that guy dead or something?

No, he's not dead, They're all suing eachother.
I like DK, but Jello is a nutso - leftist.
Jello info: www.alternativetentacles.com
The best thing about jello was that 'anal landscape' poster that Tipper Gore got all huffed up about. Other than that, the dude needs to shut the hell up.

Where did DK play last night? I hate I missed them. I met the old CoC lead singer in Raleigh last year. He's a nice guy, but he's one of those close talkers. Know what I mean? He thinks he needs to get real close to talk to you even when the band isn't playing.
Ziggy's in Winston-Salem. Best place to see a show.
saw some band called the "swinging richards" last night. They were not bad. Kind of a mix between Kenny Wayne Shepard and Sister Hazel. Just too small of a bar for them to be playing in so we left and drank nasty beer.

Yep, Ziggy's does kick a lot of ass. I was gonna go see Gene Watson up in Raleigh last night, but I've got to go to a wedding today and there is no guarantee that I would have made it back in time all the way from Raleigh hung over.

Dude, you shouldn't have left. The Swingin' Richards don't suck at all. They had to change their name because nobody would let the Swingin' Dicks play in their clubs.
hi gutter did you take your dog with you

Here here. Great club. Too bad I'm too far away to go to Winston-Salem now on a spur.

I'm originally from Winston. Used to go to Ziggys at least once every weekend. Had a buddy that was bartender there. Saw a lot of shows in there. That place used to be so small you could barely fit in there. They put the place where they have the bands in there about 15 years ago. Before that it was REALLY small.
Dead Kennedys! I haven't thought about them in years. I may still have a cassette of Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables around here somewhere. Gutter, since you seem to be so "in the loop" regarding the local music scene, let me know if The Misfits or Samhain ever regroup and come around. I guess maybe Danzig is too much of a bigshot now... I saw him whack somebody in the head pretty hard with his bass at CBGBs once...

Hey Sadic, I saw the Samhain/Danzig reunion tour about two years ago. Fucking awesome!!!! I have had two chances to see the Misfits,a nd got two cancellations. Doesn't looks too good now. I saw Glen at Tremont about a year ago and the show was pretty lame. He was pissed at his opening band for not showing up and only played an hour. Other than that he is usally awesome. The greatest lineup was in 96. Danzig, with opening acts Korn and Marilyn Manson. I pretty much go anywhere to see him play. Hven't heard of any recent tour dates, but he did recently release an album. We'll see.
