I hope I'm not the only one on here that thinks it's time for colleges around the state to improve their fastpitch programs. You go to some games and you see better high school fields. Some teams are even reduced to using city parks because the college will not put one near the campus.
The money paid to college fastpitch coaches is a JOKE! There are many great fastpitch coaches at the high school level. They would like to move on to college but many just can't afford to take the pay cut. Who would have thought you would every make that statement in NC.
With two local teams in the National Top 25, it's clear to see that the level of fastpitch softball is up. I believe it's up to the colleges now to improve their facilites so that these young ladies who work hard to move on to college, don't have to take a step back when it comes to coaching or facilites.

I totally agree especially on the coaches. Most of the d2 coaches are terrible. There are much better coaches in the high school and especially on the travelball circuit. Most of the college coaches have no idea what is going on. Some are young girls who played in college probablly for a bad coach and that is all they know. I see many of the girls just now leaving high school who know more than their college coach about the game. I have been extreamly disappointed in some of the programs I have visited. I still like to watch the girls play in college but something should be done to get MUCH better coaches in college

Which colleges in the South do a good/great job?

Locally: Shenna at LR, Hawkins at USC-Spartanburg, David Hanna at Coker, Jimmie Walker at Limestone, Stevan Hernandez at St Andrews, the second year coach at Anderson..Yon, the New and experienced staff at Queens,Ochoa and Jason Cline(LBlue could add more to these two gooood coaches), Lee Swanson has done an outstanding job of turning around Belmont Abbey and has a great assistant coach(leaving her unnamed:p) and who can forget at Kennesaw State....Mr Whitlock and they are More but you get the picture. i am also sure that they are some who dont have the right coach in place......it happens! But labeling D2 like that is notcorrect by no means!

where are the slack D2 programs ........d-central in your opinion?

iowa......agreed and maybe its bait??? :D
