Seems like everyone on here has xbox. Ive got ps2 and have only played a little of xbox in the store. Why did you opt for xbox? Just curious.

Yeah, it felt like more of a natural evolution from ps1, and xbox games seem cartoonish to me

I had ps2 until I got a big tv. ps2 sucks on a big tv so I bought an xbox. xbox has 480p 720p 1080i games. Dont have to have a memory card either. I like both

What is that, pixels or something? Not having to have a memory card would be cool, but is it an option? My friends bring our games and cards back and forth

DaveW

yes..you also have the option of a memory card. the xbox hidef pack is hands down better than the ps2.

hi def pack gives you better screen resolution. Doesnt make a game play any better or worse. Just makes it look much much better.

xbox is a different kind of system than ps2 is..can't really compare them Ps2 has a better game selection going for it though.

Ps2 has a better game selection going for it though.true but that gap has gotten MUCH smaller... I've got both and if I'm buying a game and it comes out on both systems I get it on XBOX... I really only have my PS2 and Gamecube for the games that only come out on those systems

So does anyother service provider. I look forward to getting it. I play online games on the PC all the time and that was the main reason for choosing an Xbox

DaveW

xbox live is like $5 a month at the most and is much more organized than ps2 online.

yeah, no more money per year than that ps2 network adaptor. Not to mention the added features XBL has over ps2 online. I like ps2 just fine, but they did miss the boat on online.

$50 a year for service, friends list, headset, free chat outside of games versus $40 for the network adaptor and $20 for a decent headset that won't even work in all PS2 online games? That's lame.

XBox has kick-ass games and I like the system, but I have to give the title to PS2 for now. My XBox is just a little too buggy. I always have hell getting custom soundtracks to work. What's more, I'm of the opinion that the PS2 Dual Shock is THE single greatest video game controller ever made. It works beautifully for almost any kind of game; the only thing you can't do is shoot at the screen or do that retarded Dance Dance thing.

PS2 also has the lock on third party support, so almost all the really badass games will be available for it.

That's not to take too much away from XBox. When the damn drive works the way it's supposed to, the extras and custom soundtracks make it worth lining Bill Gate's pockets.

I originally got the XBOX because my friend works for Microsoft and could get the games (Microsoft Published) for $10. I had the PS2 as well but once I got my high def big screen and XBOX live I sold the PS2 because its main purpose was collection of dust. The games are getting much better and there are new ones coming out every week. Without a doubt the XBL is worth the $50/year. I play online with people I know from all over the country. I was even online one night and a guy that was playing turned out to be my cousin from Chicago.

I've never had any problems at all with custom soundtracks. Only problems I've ever had are the typical DDE errors with EA Sports games, and the lockups in Vice City. What kind of problems are you having with custom soundtracks?

MY DDE errors went away immediately when I took the stupid DVD module out. The difference was amazing.

If you have the thompson drive in your xbox, you can call and have it replaced for free. tell them you know there is a problem with those drives and you want it replaced.

I've had it apart and voided the warranty, and I called them and even if I pay, they won't touch it since I've "tampered" with it. I'll just wait for the rumored price drop to $149 and get a new one.

Yeah, I've tried both ways, it does make a difference with certain games for some reason.I've heard of people having problems with the older models. I've had mins since day 1 and not a problem. I've played about 100 different games through it.

YEAH..I peeled the corner of a sticker off mine and they said i voided the warranty after that and sent it back unfixed, without the original box and the rubber feet missing. I called them and raised holy hell. They told me to fuck off. I told them I was hanging up the phone and going to walmart to buy a new one and pull the drive out and replace it myself and returning it for a refund. I did just that also. I made sure I fucked up the one I returned so bad they couldnt put it back on the shelf. fuck microsoft.

Either they don't work at all, the songs skip, or they mess up my game. For example, I'll play a game on Dead or Alive Volleyball with a custom soundtrack, and at the end of the game, it freezes on the Now Loading transitional screen and I have to reset it. I invented about twelve new cuss words when this was going on. I've forgotten them all since then.

espn football does that for me occasionally as the commentary skips and the drive sounds like it's working overtime. I don't mind since i've had mine since launch. The new xboxes will be cheap anyways because of a price cut coming soon.

It's going to suck that they'll take the HD out of the next one, but i'll look at the next systems and pick whichever one is better. to me, the xbox stands alone as a different system, which is why I got it. if you actually do some real tampering with it, you can unlock the true power of it. Without a HD, it'll just be another one of the little guys.

I've heard rumors that it won't be a hard drive, but it'll still have huge storage capacity through some kind of new tech. MS supposedly bought some company that was working on some new storage tech.

Right now, games like Baldur's Gate 2 and Champions of Norath make PS2 ownership much more worthwhile to me. The Dark Cloud series is good, and the Mark of Kri is probably the best game I've played on "next gen" systems.

Regardless, when Fable comes out, I will have to buy an X-box, because it's going to be amazing. A lot like Daggerfall, only better.

Reznor

Baldur's Gate 2 is on xbox iirc, but yeah, you will definitely have more of that style on the ps2. You played Gladius? Just wondering how it is.

I'm mainly into sports games, so the hard drive is a huge benefit when it comes to saving multiple rosters, classic teams, franchises, draft classes, etc., but the ps2 can't be beat for jap. style games or games by developers who are in sony's pocket.

Speaking of Daggerfall, have you played Morrowind? I can't wait for Fable either.

Yeah, it was rather boring, it lacked a compelling reason to really do anything other than run around and look at the scenery. The storyline just didn't hook me in enough to give a fuck about getting to that next task.

You're not helping my sales. The fact that the game of the year edition with both expansion packs added on sells for 20 bucks probably doesn't help either. Sorry, it wasn't my intention to harm your business. :)

Nevermind, I just checked, the GOTY edition is 30 bucks so you can probably get 10 for the regular one. Or just trade it in.

Oh, I didn't know that. Haven't played Gladius, been tempted to..

I really like some sports games, but I also hate that they get so repetative after a while. I think the problem for me is, once I figure out the trick, sports games are easy.

I've only played ESPN College Hoops out of the last years batch, and that is actually a really great game, but it's still a little too easy (unless I go up to All-American with my Legacy NCA&T...then I get slaughtered by lesser teams).
