I had to scream somewhere. NCAA Softball Regionals, Alabama vs UCLA, 2-2 bottom of the ninth, UCLA coming to the plate, ESPN cuts and runs, they'll keep us updated. Sit on ESPN, don't start it if you aren't gonna finish it. That's what my wife always says. ESPN has got a whole week of the NCAA Softball World Serious lined up and a lot of it is in prime time. They pull this crap all week and their email box is gonna be full of hanger4. If any body wants the schedule holler and we'll scan and copy/paste that badboy. Well I think I've calmed down now, man that burns me up !!

Woodard from Myers park give up the go ahead three run screamer to a NC State player today? Didi he pitch well thereafter? What was the final outcome! Think it was on FOXSS :scared2:

Sorry you missed an exciting game, O!

Kudos to fellow Charlotteans Greg Mangum (East Meck) and Mike Daniel (South Meck) for their significant hits!

Here's an article about the game:

Hmm...did they cut to "Heidi"?..you would think after all these years, the broadcast station would have learned from that fiasco.

Although this is off-topic, I think this game serves as a great example of the type personality Robert Woodard has...tenacity, battler, never gives in nor gives up. The young man is a sheer bulldog.

While much of the publicity goes to freshmen pitchers Daniel Bard and Andrew Miller (and deservedly so), I find it fitting that Robert's record of 7-2 is better than the two pitchers mentioned....but that's Robert...when the fight is over he is always the one standing.

Apparently Rob got the win as he was 6-2 going into the game and looked SHARP from what i saw minus the bad pitch or "location"!?!?!?! UNC must have come back!!!?? Great job then in middle relief--you are correct! :applause:

This was nothing but junk. How many times has espn done stuff like this. We have till like Julky to keep up with the NBA and forever to keep up with baseball. ESPN should have stayed with the game.

Once again ESPN decides to leave softball for something else. Have they never joined a event already in progress?

Well said Braves. Robert and Daniel Bard both tied the record for wins by a freshman pitcher at Carolina, finishing with 8 wins apiece. Adam Lukas wrote a great article that really captures Robert well -- go to www.tarheelblue.com to find it. Robert is humble and not after attention, in fact he'd just as soon others get the attention, but he wants the ball and he gets the job done. He is as tenacious as a bulldog when he is on the mound and when something goes the other team's way, he just digs deeper and gets even more. But most of all he is a great person. Congrats to Robert and his family. Congrats to Daniel and his family, too. After his baseball career that I look forward to following, Robert will be a great, great high school coach. I hope I have grandsons and I hope they play for him one day.
