...is a better game when played in person. Played in 3 tournaments in Vegas...didn't win any of them, but man is it cool saying "All In" and pushing your chips to the center of the table....expensive, but cool.

A group of friends of mine have one every 3-4 months and we all chip in $50 -$75 for snacks and beverages. For entertainment purposes only, of course.

played a game last night that went well. $25 buy in, $1000 in chips pere players. Blinds doubled every 30 minutes. $125 pay out 1st place (i managed to win :) ) $75 2nd place. everyone played to win, game ran from 630 til 1100. these guys have 8-10 players and would love a multi-table tourney style game.
played last night too.....2 dollar per card raises 5 dollar last card raises....lost $60....there were 7-8 players....last two guys walked out with $250 and $140....couple others left with money or broke even.....some guys lost $150 bucks.....stupid ass dealer calls the game rule.....two damn idiots kept calling wild shit, almost caused an ass kicking.

That's why I stopped playing that way in early college.
NC needs to legalize poker houses. Prolly the only way I'll ever be able to really play again. Even then, I doubt i'd have the time to give it like I did 10 years ago.

who's going to get the game going?
here's the tourney style game i played in tonight:
When
Saturday, July 24.
Show up between 6:15pm and 6:45pm. Rules will be reviewed around 6:45 with seat selection being done after the rules are reviewed. Game play will begin at 7pm.
Where
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Food/Beverage
Bring your own beverage, but I will have some beer. I will have chili, BBQ sandwiches and other snacks, not sure what as I haven’t gone shopping yet. All menu selections are subject to change without notice. Please be careful with food/drinks on or near the tables.
Basic Rules
I’d like to make this a somewhat regular event, so we are going to start out simple to encourage everyone to come back.
1. The name of the game is “No Limit Texas Hold ‘em”, All-In is allowed at anytime.
2. No re-buying into the tourney. All players start with an equal chip value (actual count may vary).
3. Cards speak for themselves with the best 5-card hand winning; ties split the pot.
4. Cards are ONLY shown when all players are in. If you have folded do not discuss what cards you had, this changes the odds.
5. You must play every hand, if you need to leave the table momentarily, play will continue and any blinds/antes will be collected automatically. Chair may call tourney breaks as needed.
6. No wildcards in the tourney.
7. You can only bet what you have in chips on the table at the time the hand is dealt, multiple pots (side pots) will be played if players are all-in.
8. No trick dealing or bottom dealing.
9. Player behind the dealer (button) shuffles the next deck.
10. The tourney chair settles all disputes (including any side games) and decisions are final.
Chip Value
White - $1
Red - $2
Blue - $5
Green - $10
Black - $25
Blinds/Antes
1st half hour - 1/2 blinds (no antes)
2nd half hour - 2/4 blinds & no antes
3rd half hour - 5/10 blinds & 1 chip ante
4th half hour - 10/20 blinds & 1 chip ante
5th half hour - 15/30 blinds & 2 chip antes
6th half hour - 20/40 blinds & 2 chip antes
4th hour - 30/60 blinds & 5 chip antes
Minimum raise is either the large blind or the in the case of re-raising the amount of the previous raise.
Dealing & Betting
1. The player to the left of the button is the small blind; the player to his left is the large blind.
2. All players are dealt two cards face down, starting to the left of the dealer button.
3. There is a round of betting starting to the left of the large blind.
4. After the pot is good, one-card is burned (discard face down), three community cards are dealt.
5. Another round of betting occurs, this time with action to the left of the dealer.
6. Another card is burned and the fourth community card (“the Turn”) is dealt.
7. Another round of betting occurs, once again with action to the left of the dealer.
8. Another card is burned and the final community card (“the River”) is dealt.
9. A final round of betting occurs, once again with action to the left of the dealer.
10. The dealer button rotates to the left after each hand.
Player Elimination
1. Players are eliminated when they have no chips left in front of them at the end of a hand.
2. Tables will be condensed as players get eliminated, in order to be fair, this will be done randomly.
3. Blinds do not skip ahead when players are eliminated (i.e. A player cannot go from non blind to being the small blind!).
a. If the player to the left of the big blind is eliminated, the big blind advances to the next player at the table.
b. If the big blind is eliminated there is no small blind during the next hand, small blind becomes the dealer.
c. If the small blind is eliminated, the blinds advance like normal, but the dealer button stays put.
4. In three-person action, the dealer has the pre-flop action. After the flop the dealer is “in position” (i.e. the last person to bet in the round).
5. In head to head, the dealer is the small blind. This puts the pre-flop action on the dealer. After the flop though, the dealer is in position.
Hand Ranking (best to worst)
1. Royal Straight Flush A, K, Q, J, T suited
2. Straight Flush – Straight all of the same suite
3. Full House (“The Boat”) – Three of a kind and a pair
1. If the same three of a kind, highest pair wins.
2. If the same three of a kind and pair, the pot is split.
4. Flush – Five cards of the same suite
1. Highest card of the suite wins, if the same card, go to the next card.
5. Straight – Five cards in a row
1. High straight wins, split pot if the same straight.
2. Ace can be high or low, but not both (e.g. 3,2,A,K,Q is not a straight)
6. Three of a Kind
1. If the same three of a kind, high card wins.
7. Two Pair
1. If the same high pair, next high pair wins.
2. If both pairs are the same, high card wins.
3. If high cards are the same, the pot is split.
8. Pair
1. If the same pair, high card wins.
9. High Card
1. If the same high card, go to the next card.

High card of flush wins. Ace anything would be the nuts.

The person with the highest pocket spade wins. if nobody has a spade, or if the pocket spade is lower than the lowest on the board, split pot.

exactly...
need to clarify because there are those that don't know
my wife just bought me a texas hold em set...which all it is, is a couple deck of cards and chips...but it had the texas hold em rules...the rules are somewhat different from what i've watched on tv. on tv the dealer when dealing the flop, first puts a card to the side and again before he deals the turn, and also before the river card. it didn't say anything about that in the rules. is it something they overlooked putting in the rules?

Each house can make its own rules regarding the burn cards. The idea is to prevent collusion beween the dealer and a specific player or players.
