We need to get a list of all our NC guys playing college ball. It would be nice to be able to glance one place and say "O ... that's where he's playing"....
If you guys will post the NC guys, Current Class (fresh, soph .. etc) and the college they are at, I'll make a single comprehensive tracking list for us.
NCBBallFan,
Will make this one easy for you.
Link below provides 2004-2005 UNCW roster.
Check it out...28 of 31 players are homegrown!

Nice ... I like what they are doing down there. UNC-W has a great program that is always competitive. It shows the talent level in the state!

I actually did some research on this subject last year and based on the 2004 rosters here is the breakdown on NC players on in state school rosters.
D-I schools-- 53%
D-II schools-- 69%
D-III schools-- 50%
NAIA -- 62%
I did not include the Jr. colleges and community colleges but I will bet that the percentage there is as high or higher than the above divisions.

Those numbers are very good ... add in the fact that there are quite a few NC ball players that "trickle" up to VA, over to TN or down to SC so the numbers look very good.
Two things do hold the numbers down a bit:
1. LOTS of Florida guys (and they have a huge HS baseball program down there) have to play out of state. There are only (I think) 10 D1 schools in all of Florida. When you take that into consideration, it's amazing that any out-of-state player ever makes it down to FSU, UM or UF.
2. There aren't as many good mid-size D1 programs in the entire northeast as there are in NC alone. Many players come south hunting for a place to play.
