Atkinson - 25, Kiser - 17, Lea Smith - 12, Lovik - 10

Akendra Brown did not play (knee), but said she would be ready next week.

Everybody played well.

I've got one thing to say: Anybody who thought Anna would be gone after this year, well, there's another one just like her. Only she has blonde hair and is in the 9th grade! This kid (Greene) already knows how to play!

Nothing exciting about this one. Workman like game for the Lady Rockets. Once again playing without Brianna Worley, who should be back before long, a week maybe two. Lady Rockets have a week off until Asheville High comes calling next Tuesday at Reynolds. Another tough one, but that is what makes us better later in the year!

yep, the Lady Titans came out ready to play tonight. Mitchell never had a chance, they ended up comitting a astronomical 36 turnovers. As ladiesfan just said, Anna had 25 points on 9-14 shooting. Also add 8 steals, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. I don't think there is another backcourt player in this state who played tonight who put up stats like that.

As far as the freshmen guard, Kelsea Greene, she's already good, but in due time she will be very special. She plays very similar to Anna, only exception is that...

1. She dosen't have the shooting range that Anna had as a freshmen.
2. She dosen't have the intangables that Anna has.

Other than that, she is very similar to Atkinson. Athletic, aggressive on defense and aggressive going to the hoop. Kelsea is about 2 inches taller than Anna, and being only a freshmen could grow some more.

As good as we played, I do have concerns. First off, we gave up too many rebounds to Mitchell, at least more than I would like to see us give up. The inside players for McDowell were flat-footed. Second, McDowell may have lost a bench player. Whitney Mace came up limping while on the court during the first half on an already injured knee and they were icing her and wrapping that knee. Not a good sign, hopefully nothing serious.

Without Brown and the Lady Titans post 85 points....God only knows what they would have if she was in the lineup. I dont think I ever saw the main personnel from McDowell break a sweat in this one. Lots of good things to come..

.

The main thing that impressed me about her was the sheer foot speed, and also the quick hands. Yes, she's not as polished offensively, but if she does grow taller and keeps that speed, LOOK OUT!

If there was a game that I would suggest, it would be next Saturday (Dec 4th) here in Marion against Owen. I think they're gonna start the games about 2 pm or so. Owen has Wake Forest-bound post player, Corrine Groves. She put 30 on McDowell last year in a regular season matchup which was good enough to beat the Lady Titans in overtime. This year I'm hoping for a different outcome.

Hey, any of you Charlotte people reading this? Give us some scores for tonight's games. I was courious to see if South Meck was able to break the winning column for the first time this season against North Meck?

Ick…that is all I can say about the game last night. As a believer in the power of positive words and speaking positive over situations, I believe that it will only get better for the Lady Cougars. Hickory pressed, pressured and just overwhelmed the Cougars last night in a game that was pretty much over early in the 3rd quarter. Hickory started quick, ran out to a double digit lead with pressure and fast breaks to lead 21-5 after the first. AC played tough and had some bright moments to cut it within 7 at half to be down 31-24. After that it just went down hill for the Cougars who had the same sort of trouble they had last year of not being able to get the ball up the court against a trapping ¾ press. I had a note that Hickory was up 24 with 2:00 to go in the 3rd and the quarter ended Hickory up 56-26. Finishing with a flurry Hickory ran away 75-36. I do not have any scoring for the girls from Hickory who deserve a great amount of credit for their pressure and even with several girls picking up early fouls, never backing off and staying full throttle. The Cougars, who are better than the 39 point defeat, were led by Kenya Miller again but with only 9 as well as Tekera Flowers with 9. There were 3 others with 4.
Hopefully the break will give the Lady Cougars a chance to rest and regroup and get ready for St. Stephen’s on Monday night.

Everyone have a safe and happy Thanksgiving and be careful out there!

South Caldwell lost to Foard by 16. Foard has avery good team but SC only scored 39 points. They will have to do better than that to compete this year.
If Barrett is not able to come back strong in a couple weeks it will be a long tough year for South

Now, that I'm back from a computer sabbatical..I'll keep us posted on SM scores and recaps. They have certainly been disappointing so far, but Coach Gaston will get them back on track...especially when Horowitz gets back.

Correction...South Caldwell lost to Foard by 14 and scored 45 points. Foard is a great team that went 29-2 last year and brought back 4 starters and key reserves from that team.

Well Watauga did not fair very good Tuesday night in Ashe Co. The Pioneers fell to the huskies by 3. Watauga looked like a new team in the 1st quarter. They sprinted out to a 21-8 lead after one. Then it looked like the Watauga from years past. Falling right into the game that Ashe wanted to play. Foul troubled plauged the Pioneers with 4 starters fouling out. Watauga is on the road again Tuesday vs. Hibriten. Maybe they can correct the problems. Watauga showed in the 1st quarter what they are capable of doing. Maybe they can get it done for four quarters from now on. Congrats to the Huskies on their first win.

One other thing. By looking at the scores from the West Caldwell games, maybe the Pioneers will do ok in Conference. They beat WC by 10 in a scrimmage earlier this year. Just food for thought.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Highcountryhoops that is a pretty good description of the Watauga game. They looked good for a quarter. Maybe they can get it together.

Does anyone know the score of the EB vs Hibriten game?
