I went today and bought two sheets of homasote 440, a few drywall screws, and some liquid nails for $54. I installed them as per the directions on one bedroom wall. Then, I asked my neighbor to turn her tv up until I knocked on the wall. I never had to knock. She came back over and told me it was all the way up. I never heard it. WOOT!
Now, two sheets of drywall ($8 each) and repositioning the baseboard and I'll have this wall done. Fuck a $25k estimate. I should be done under $500 total for materials and the neighbors are splitting it 1/3 each.
ps...I fixed the heat too.

What happened with taking them to court? Are they paying for it?

:applause: :applause: :applause: Awesome Builder! Wait - if you do the whole house, won't you have to repaint the whole lot?

Still going forward with that. But it may take a couple years. So I want to fix what I can so that I can sell sooner than that.
And yes Honey, I'll have to repaint. What colors will I choose? I dunno. I'm thinking a pale green all throughout. :mushy:

It's a GREEN product. Recycled paper goods basically. Compressed into a fairly dense sheet but it absorbs sound instead of transferring it to the air. You have to put a sheet of drywall over it to finish it off. But the shit works.

Sooo this would be good to use in say a gameroom or for soundproofing other rooms I imagine. Hmmmmmm.
DaveW- My google is out of order, along with all of my search engines. The only place I can go is here, you're fucked. :laugh1:

Yep. And you can use it as a tackboard too. Darts....no problem. It's $21 per 4x8' sheet - Queen City Lumber in Elizabeth has it.
