View Full Version : 2005 grads to college ball
Curious to see where this goes....wondering about the young women (from the NW4A particualrly, but from any area school) that we have watched the last few years that are about to graduate high school and where/if they have signed/committed to play college ball (Jr. college, NAIA, NCAA).
I'm also courious as to where some of these girls end up. This senior class is quite talented. Here are the signees that I know of...
Rashanda McCants (Asheville): Carolina
Danielle Burgin (Asheville): UNC-Charlotte
Lauren Powell (Asheville): Western Carolina
Corrine Groves (Owen): Wake Forest
Ashlei Helton (East Burke): Lenoir-Rhyne

Hey bigdan, what position does the Helton girl play?

Helton is a wing forward, she used to be really bad to take a lot of shots, especially 3 pointers, but she has done better finding open girls inside. She can be dedaly though from 3 point land. I would think she'll play the same spot at L-R
From Alexander Central 2 of the 3 seniors will be continuing their basketball careers in college:
Kenya Miller verbal to Lousiburg College (Jr.)
Miranda Horne verbal to Brevard College (NAIA)

Lauren Coote from Vance is also off to Lenoir Rhyne, Lynisha Ochogu from Independence has signed with Campell. I just found that out last night when I talked to both coaches. Congratulations girls~
UPDATE: The late signing period has begun for girls. I still haven't heard any signings for any of the girls from McDowell. I will definintely post them as soon as I hear something.
McDowell's Anna Atkinson has signed to play ball at Wingate. I wish Anna the best in College.
