Hopewell 73
AC Reynolds 60

Poor effort by the Rockets, who blew a 6 point halftime lead, but congrats to a hungry, determined Hopewell squad. Good luck to the McDowell Lady Titans in their quest for a State Title, dont assume you are going to win, and take nothing for granted. We had beaten Hopewell by 32 last season, and thought it would be another cake walk.

Not exactly the prettiest win by the Lady Titans tonight but we'll take it. 38-18 at the half, the Lady Titans looked in control. But the 2nd half starts with less than inspired basketball. Vance gets 2 quick baskets, and Coach Silver, not too happy, calls a timeout. Vance kept coming strong with a 3rd quarter surge, a 3 pointer at the buzzer and the McDowell lead trimmed to 11 points. The Lady Titans decided to play a bit more inspired ball in the final period and quickly got that lead back up to 15 points.

Lady Cougars built a working margin of 6 to 10 points late in the third quarter and broke the game open midway through the 4th. Final score S.W. Randolph 58, J.M. Robinson 42. Just second loss all season for Robinson, the SPC champs.

I love the Rockets and enjoyed this year as much as anyone, but frankly they got what they deserved tonight. I hate to say it but Hopewell, played with much more fire and intensity, and seemed to want it much more. Our girls seemed to play like a team that had beaten Hopewell by 32 and expected to win easily and this Hopewell team is MUCH better than last year. I hate to see the season end, but ACR did not deserve to win, this was not the team that led McDowell most of the game last week. Don't know what happened to that team!

Vance started the game very poorly--only 4 points in the first quarter. Turnovers and poor shooting. The next three quarters were pretty even. MHS executed thier inside game with perfection. Then they started the second half slowly.
Turnovers have been our achilles heel all year at Vance an tonite was no different. After clawing back to within 9 points, the turnover bug hit again--two straight with MHS converting on the other end.

Good luck Titans. Harding beat us three time this year. 2 times by 30. Of course we had unforced turnovers in those games as well. We did not play Garinger. Either team will be tough to beat. Especially with Emily seeing limited action.

Good crowd as usual.
