View Full Version : UNCW Pitcher
I am sure many of the TBR'ers will know Jeff Moore.
He is a Sr. Pitcher for UNCW that graduated Erwin HS in Asheville in 2001.
He was the starting pitcher today for UNCW in their final game in Beaumont, Texas against Indiana State. He took a line shot to the mouth today in the fifth inning and had to be taken to the hospital. Two teeth were knocked out but no other word yet as to further damage that may have occurred. His parents were there in Beaumont this week-end for the games. Please everyone keep the Moore's in your thoughts and prayers. I will post more as the info becomes available. UNCW did come from behind and win the game 4-3.

Thanks BB9er for informing us. I will keep Jeff and his family in my prayers. Please keep us updated on his condition. As a parent of a pitcher, this is something that we always fear
I've met him before down there in Wilmington. Great guy. I'll keep him in mind as well. Good luck Jeff, get well soon.

Jeff pitched for us on the 2001 Senior West State Games team! He is a great kid as well as pitcher! If anyone has any contact onfo for his family I would appreciate it! IM me would be great...
word i have is that the teeth (the 2 that came out) could not be saved and a damaged one will have to be pulled...he will have to see an oral surgeon for implants. Jeff had to have 40+ stitches in his mouth but good news he will be ok. First thing he asked the doctor was "when can I pitch again?" he flew back to the Asheville area with his parents and will return to Wilmington and see an oral surgeon there on Wed.

Another example why aluminum bats should not be allowed in high school and college baseball.

why did my post get deleted ?
Sorry IC....I don't know what post you are talking about, but I'm not a moderator anymore...so it wasn't me
Happy to report that Jeff started the game on Sun. and got the win against Utah. Jeff pitched 6 innings giving up 1 run. Even tho his mouth is still swollen, Jeff showed no hesitation, apprehension or fear of being where he loves to be ...in command on the mound. It is a pleasure to watch him pitch.
