View Full Version : Guess What's Wrong with My Knee

Whatever it is, it's not too bad, but there's is some sort of problem in my left knee, and since it's the only physical pain I have right now, I'm just curious as to what it could be. I get a burning pain on the inside side of my left knee. I have no swelling and running or other impact doesn't seem to further irritate it, but I can't do the "hurdler's stretch" (sitting on my butt with my right leg extended and by left leg bent next to me) without tremendous pain. The only thing I know that may be on the inside side is an MCL. I haven't really tested lateral durability for the knee, but it doesn't click or make an weird sounds.

Stand up straight and put pressure on it pushing out from within and in from without. Any pain?

Some pain pushing from the inside out, but not from the outside in.

Arthritis in your knee cap. I have the same thing.

That's probably some meniscus damage. I have the same thing.

How can I accelerate the condition?

Try the women in your life. It's my experience they're good at this sort of thing.

I always assumed meniscus damage would make me feel vertical impact more, but maybe not. I have in the past had some pain around the top of my kneecap, so maybe that lends itself to the idea of general arthritis in the area.

Want to make sure I guess correctly. It's one of the following.

ACL tear or strain
PCL tear or strain
Lateral meniscus tear or trashy
Medial meniscus tear or trashy
Arthritis
Bursitis
Popliteal Cyst
Fluid collection of unknown origin
Fluid collection of known origin
Bone Cyst
Tibial Plateau bruise or fracture
Femoral Condyle bruise or fracture
Muscle strain
Wimp factor

Wimp factorI see Wimp factor, but I don't see natural selection in there :D

OK, I'm going to rule out "Wimp factor" because I'm not allowing it to stop me from doing anything, plus I just sparred with a brown belt who was unable to submit me. I'm also going to rule out any fluid collection and muscle strain. What about MCL? I thought that if I had pain on the inside it was possible MCL and on the outside possible ACL, no?

I don't know about MCLs, but if you tore your ACL you would know as soon as you tried to change directions.

its a torn meniscus. you probably have cartilidge in your knee. I tore mine last summer. I couldnt do the runners stretch for a long time. squating down as far I could hurt as well. funny, jogging didnt seem to hurt it. I didnt have that much swelling either and I waited too long to go to the doc. he said if I can live with the discomfort , do so. if not come back and I can get it scoped. I just let it heal up on its own. its almost all the way better, but I can tell there is still some loose bits in there. unless it gets worse, no surgery for me.

You just started your martial arts training? If so it could just be sore from being used in ways it has not in the past.

awesome

shouldn't oughta be doing that hurdler's stretch. it's not proper technique for stretching those muscles. it puts tension on the ligaments and tendons of the knee joint.

I think I'm starting to agree that cost outweighs benefit on that one. Unless I do that, I barely notice it. If it's not swelling and not stopping me from doing anything, I'm not going to a doctor for it. Just trying to get an idea of what it could be. Meniscus maybe.

If you really really really wanna know, we can work it out. :woot:

It might cost you a day of manual labor though.

Are there midgets, duct tape, and Cheerios involved? Either way, I'm in.

Duct tape's optional.

You'll have to talk to the baby about the Cheerios- they are hers.

That sorta took the fun outta the rest of that post didn't it?
