How about this. I wanted to add a DL to our rosters but Yahoo wouldn't allow it. It would suck if say Peyton Manning broke his leg in week one and you had to carry a dead spot on your roster fir the whole year just to retain him for next. What if we have a gentlemens agreement that if you have a player that gets put on IR you can waive him and retain him only after you post in the league message board your intentions. By doing this you MUST keep him for next year. In otherwords if a Trent Green/Kurt Warner situation pops ups and the IR player ends up losing his starting gig you still have to keep him until at least after the next years draft. After the season you pick the keeper back up, I print all rosters and then we all post our keepers on the fantasy section of TBR and I'll sticky it

I may be in the minority here, but I think this takes away from the fun of a keeper league. Making tough decisions like this is what its about. If the guy's worth keeping, then keep him. If not, take a chance on something else. Personally, I'd be against this rule.

those are the tough decisions that you must make in a keeper league

do you want to ditch the play this year and try and use that spot on your roster to improve ur team possibly this year ? those are the challenges , if hes a round 1 to 4 guy chances are his value is still great enough that you should hold onto him for years to come

i vote , NO

hmmm...how many do I get to keep?4, but my question is, how do we keep them? Will they be auto assigned next year? Do we just post in here who we want? If they're auto assigned, how will that affect the normal draft procedure?

PantherPaul
01-02-06, 12:08 PM
We designate them here. Then next year we draft our 4 keepers in round 1-4. We'll have to draft earlier in case someone fucks things up. That'l give us time to make necesssary trades

Yahoo has a setting where you can hold your draft at like a bar or something and then enter the teams & players manually...I'm sure there's a setting somewhere...

Collin
04-06-06, 09:59 PM
The easiest way is just to have people set their pre-rankings to have their 4 keepers at the top of their draft list, and then to have all the people who are at the draft agree to take the player's they're supposed to have in those first four rounds.

PantherPaul
06-20-06, 03:30 PM
Thank you Brain for reminding me. All folks that were in the keeper league please copy and paste your roster here (I put the final rosters up here already) and Highlight your 4 keepers. If by the end of the preseason an owner hasn't done this then I assume you are out and another owner will be sought out

Do I have to keep guys? If the top 4 picks are keepers, and it doesn't matter where we drafted, the only guy I'd pick in the top 4 rounds is hurt.

So should the keepers be the last picks? Everyone leaves the keepers alone, and start drafting w/ round one and keep picking until you fill your roster minus your keepers. Then pick your keepers last.

So should the keepers be the last picks? Everyone leaves the keepers alone, and start drafting w/ round one and keep picking until you fill your roster minus your keepers. Then pick your keepers last.that's what I'm trying to figure out, how they plan on doing this. I always assumed keepers were kept at their correct round, but nobody bothered to put that info down apparently.

Whoever's deciding the rules, LMK so I can decide if I want to keep any of these jackbags on my roster.

Collin
08-15-06, 09:24 AM
This obviously should have been decided beforehand, but there are a couple of different ways in which leagues handle keepers.

#1) Keep X number of players in the round that they were drafted. Personally I like this method because it allows for a wider variety of players to be kept, but the problem is that it can cause severe competitive imbalance if someone drafts a relative unknown near the end of the draft and he suddenly becomes a fantasy stud. Also, you usually need some sort of limit on how many years a player can be kept in this system. You don't want Larry Johnson being a 6th round pick for the next five plus years, for instance.

#2) Keep X number of players based on the round they were drafted, but bump them up one round for every year that they're kept. This is one way of getting around the aforementioned problem if you don't favor limitations on how long a player can be kept by one team. So, for instance, if you drafted Larry Johnson in the 6th round then he would count as a 5th round pick this year, a 4th round pick next year, etc.

#3) Allocate keepers to either the first X or last X number of rounds in the draft regardless of their original draft position. This is probably the least confusing approach, and while it does tend to mean that only a fairly small group of players are worthy of keeper consideration and thus there is somewhat less strategy involved, it tends to avoid some of the competitive imbalance issues in the other models.

magnus
08-15-06, 09:44 AM
yeah, having not decided it really screws things, as does the idea that everyone's already made their intentions clear before this was decided.

idea two with the stipulation that a 2nd year keeper is a first round pick (or next highest in the case of multiples) is the way I'd go about it. I've also seen leagues where you can't keep a guy more than one extra year.

But yeah, it'd be nice for a decision to be made here.

PantherPaul
08-16-06, 06:38 PM
Select your keepers and they are the first players to be drafted. No matter where you fall on the draft order (selected by YAhoo) you draft your keepers) If you can't be there then predraft with your keepers 1-
