View Full Version : FINAL FOUR BRACKET POOL!!!!
Anyone going to start one up? We could use ESPN's brackets to get a group in there and 10 bucks per head. We could get the jackpot stirring pretty big!!!

just send the money to me now
as long as you aren't putting alabama in the final four, you'll be ok bear.
I always win these damn things, but I'm not putting any money on it. Don't believe in that sorta thing. I'll probably just post predictions for every game after the field of 65 is announced Selection Sunday.

I have a suggestion. Anyone who is willing to pay via Paypal could play in a tourney. I've got an account, and I know it's really easy to get an account set up with a credit card and/or a checking account. Then the administrator (I would suggest Larry) could collect the money via Paypal and distribute the winnings when all is said and done.
Anyone game? Larry?

Not great but I got all 4 Final 4 teams and the national champion. I actually don't do that great b/c I pick a lot of upsets that don't happen. I have been right on some good ones before--Princeton over UCLA and Coppin St over SoCarolina in recent years--but the boldness hurts. My only real skill is in predicting the overall winner at the beginning of the year, and sticking to it. Jacque Vaughn's KU teams fucked me over more than once but other than that I did alright...here is the history.
'94--Arkansas; actual winner, Arkansas
'95--UCLA; actual winner, UCLA
'96--Kansas; actual winner, Kentucky
'97--Kansas; actual winner, Arizona
'98--Kansas; actual winner, Utah (I didn't learn, did I?)
'99--Duke; actual winner, UConn
'00--Mich. St.; actual winner, Mich. St.
'01--Duke; actual winner, Duke
'02--Maryland; actual winner, ???--I hope I'm wrong!

According to bracket projections Duke and Bama will be in the same bracket. I am actually looking forward to the test.

That's a pretty good philosophy, JB! I might try that next year. I change my mind weekly. I do like Kansas and DOOK or Maryland in the finals. Kansas is as dominant in its wins as dook is in thiers.
this colge basektball it want be cool beacos unc not going to be there but as long as dook dont make it to the final four it wall be a grate mrach madnies

Actually, I did pretty well last year, but couldn't find a pool down here to get in. I had like 50 something games, but I haven't paid that much attention this year.
i say we just get in on the espn.com bracket busters or whatever. You can have private groups where you have to enter a password. I do about all the free fantasy games on espn.com so if you guys are up for it, let me know. I'll set up a group when the games starts. You'll have to sign up for a free membership on espn.com, but it's easy. Hey LARRY, can you make this sticky sometime in the near future???
ok, looks like we can setup a group at espn.com if anyone is interested. Y'all wanna do the paypal thing?? I guess we need to get some replies to this before we do anything. I saw that fred might be into it, and i would guess you guys from the old college board (blue, wossa, pr, jblackwood) would be up for it. PM me, or just reply to this and i'll see how many we get before i get the team started. I say we get at least 15 people before we start and throw in like 5 bucks a piece. How's bout it?
so far this looks like what we've got. (i figure people need to see a list to get the ball rolling).

alrighty, looks like the ball is definitely rolling. We've got 12 confirmed. ESPN's game isn't ready yet. They just have something up that says they'll let you know when it's ready. For those of you who don't have a fantasy account at espn.com and you wanna play, i would go ahead and sign-up. Just go to espn.com, then go to fantasy. It'll say free registration. That's your ticket.
So, how do you guys wanna go about submitting money? Give it to larry d, then he'll email you the password for the group. (you can have public and private groups, i figure we'll take private to make sure people have their money in before they can pick their teams.)
So, how bout it larry?
how are we supposed to get the money to him? this is kinda sketchy, besides, I'm a D-I athlete and I'll get in BIG trouble for betting on D-I sports (that is of course if I'm caught).....

Just let me know where to send the money. Like I said, I've got a Paypal account that I could send the money through....
Looks like Duke is going to take it all again this year, folks (yawn).

JB, I know you're a runner so could you give me some advice? How can i build myself up to around 5 miles a day without totally burning out? I'm doing a mile a day now but i want more without killing myself. ALso, any suggestions for boredom? I'm thinking radio but i don't want anything that is bulky enough to bounce around. Got any suggestions?
Instead of winner takes all, the pot should be broken up into 1st 2nd and 3rd place. 1st being 70 percent of the pot, 2nd place 20 percent and 3rd place 10 percent.
AH forget what I said earlier, I'm in, if I get around to registering in time.
Blueblood, I don't know your age/height/weight so it's hard to say, but assuming you're in decent shape I would just start increasing your weekly mileage little by little so that you are up to 35 per week in about a month or so. Just keep in mind that burnout is mostly mental if you're just running to stay in shape (as opposed to racing frequently) and running is one of those things that you just have to make yourself like. It's very psychological. However, if your shins start hurting frequently, BACK OFF. That's called shin splints and it means you've done too much too soon.
I'm in. (If I can figure out how to work PayPal.)

How about instead of a cash prize, we buy something, and make it a prize contest like we did for the CFFL? The the D-I could play, or is that still a violation?
dont worry about it..but dont tell anyone neither!
ok.... so WYDD, you're gonna be in charge? Let's start rounding up the people who are doing this and get their money in.
i will, but, i'll probably wait until selection sunday if i can. I think the brackets will probably lock (individual peoples selections) the wed nite before the tourney starts. That'll give us roughly 4 days to get all the stuff together. Plus, i'm hoping we can just send larry the money paypal since he's the man, and we know he's trustworthy. Plus, we need to see if everyone agrees on money put in, rules, one big money prize or 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place money prizes. So, if anybody wants to be heard, now's the time so we can get it together as soon as espn starts the game.
bump.
I've already got a team ready. If you guys don't wanna play for money, i can go ahead and give out the password. I just figured we could give out the password when the money is given. And, if that's being kinda bitchy about it, we'll just let people in. Doesn't matter to me. We can play for money, no money, it don't matter. Just let me know something.
LARRY, can you be the money collector???

I'd like in the espn one too... I'm already in the Yahoo one... and throw up a link too... we need a way for everyone to see it for bragging rights at least
someone tell me how to sign in to the yahoo one that was created, and i'll do it, no money involved
ok, since we haven't really stepped up on the whole money thing, i say screw it, and just sign up.
On epsn.com, the team name is TBR.com and the password is Pron.
If people wanna ante up afterwards we can. Peace.
