Mooresville over E. Randolph 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-6)

The Blue Devils started off slowly after a week long layoff but once they got cranked up the match was all theirs. ER was decent, alot better than the ER team Mooresville defeated in the first round two years ago.

NPC#2 seed W. Iredell knocks off MidP#1 seed SW Randolph in a mild upset, but not at all surprising to WNC Volleyball junkies. W. Iredell has been a 2A powerhouse for years before moving up in classification to 3A this year. A Mooresville/W. Iredell re-match may be in the making should both squads win on Thursday. Mooresville won both matches against them in the regular season but they were hard fought battles. Also, FT Foard and Kings Mountian look to square off once again in a war that has been fought many times over. Eventually, a State Title usually goes to the winner of this post season slug fest. My West Bracket Final Four prediction.....Mooresville/W. Iredell - Kings Mountain/FT Foard.......four of the very best Volleyball programs in the state.

Mooresville started strong and kept pounding away at Anson Co. and the Blue Devils now await the winner of the SW Guilford/W. Iredell match.

WOW! Enka takes down Kings Mountain 3-0 and W. Iredell knocks off a second straight #1 seed on the road! In the East, Triton goes to 29-0 on the season.

Mooresville over W. Iredell 3-1 (25-13, 22-25, 25-23, 25-17)

Mooresville defeated W. Iredell for the third time this season but it was not easy. W. Iredell is very talented, well coached and was on a roll. Mooresville won the first game easily but W. Iredell rallied back to take game two and appeared to be in control of the third game as well. Thats when the Lady Blue Devils reached down and found enough strength to pull out a 2 point win. That win was pivotal as W. Iredell seemed to wilt under the pressure of the powerful Mooresville hitting game and strong service ability in the final game. Mooresville moves on to face FT Foard, who defeated Enka this afternoon, this coming Tuesday @ FT Foard. The winner of that game will head to NC State next Saturday for a shot a the NCHSAA 3A crown.

FT Foard over Mooresville 3-2 (20-25, 15-25, 25-15, 25-18, 16-14)

The Lady Blue Devils came out smoking and seemed to be poised for a second consecutive 3A State Title but the Lady Tigers came all the way back to break the hearts of the Mooresville faithful for a second time in the last three seasons. This current group of Mooresville players have one 3A State Championship and a pair of visits to the West Regional Finals to their credit. You cant ask a whole lot more from anyone. Mooresville graduates all but two of their current rotation and head coach Nancy Dilks will retire after 30 years of service and 3 State Championships to her credit.

Good Job Ladies! I will never forget the last three years and am proud to say that my daughter was a part of such a fine program. Mooresville Blue Devil Volleyball.
