Not really, the panthers don't have a good enough offense to raise him beyond pre Harbaugh levels (before you started watching)

KC was 2-14 the year before Alex Smith was their QB. I guess he had nothing to to do w/ the 13-3 turnaround and a trip to the playoffs.

Not nearly as much to do with it as Jamaal Charles being healthy. Is he really that big an upgrade from Matt Cassel?

First of all they were 11-5 not 13-3. But since you're arguing a shitty point I wouldn't expect you to nail basic facts. Secondly, their schedule was easy as fuck and included a ridiculous run of facing backup QBs. Thirdly, Kansas City already had a talented team that included six Pro Bowl players from 2012. Smith deserves marginal credit. Matt Cassel also led the Chiefs to the playoffs so it's fair to wonder if Smith is really an upgrade.

Terez A. Paylor is reporting that the Kansas City Chiefs have reached an agreement with QB Alex Smith on a four-year contract.
According to Paylor, Smith’s new contract will pay him $68 million in total and includes $45 million guaranteed.
The two sides had been in contract talks for months now regarding a long-term deal and recent reports actually mentioned that they weren’t all that close to an agreement. Apparently, things changed as the season drew closer.

You know the QB market is all fucked up when the media considers this a good deal.
