    Might be a good move. I don't think it's a bad one.

Anything that gets Colin Jones out of the slot is OK with me. Ideally that's where Bene belongs.

Chicago must have had him in for a visit. I see he has one of Fox's watches.

From one of the "best remaining FA" lists on the internets

"There are proven alternatives out there—Alan Ball for instance. The eight-year veteran turns 30 this month and is coming off a season-ending biceps injury, but he actually has quite a bit going for him. Ball is 6’2”, 197 pounds, and Kelly loves size in the defensive backfield. The journeyman corner started 22 games for the Jacksonville Jaguars over the past two seasons, recording 17 pass breakups and three interceptions.

Obviously, Ball is not a permanent solution in the secondary, yet the soon-to-be 30-year-old could potentially be a solid No. 2 corner while also adding even more size on the perimeter."
    --------------------------------------------------------------
"In 2013, Ball recorded a +7.5 Pro Football Focus grade in over 1,000 snaps, ranking 22nd among 110 qualified cornerbacks. His 2014 season was cut short by a biceps injury, which landed him on injured reserve after seven games, but he still held his own in the first half of the season, recording 22 tackles and an interception."

We'll see. Hopefully he's a Florence and not a Cason.

If you read the link to the Jags fan site PFF had him rated very highly in '13. I think he might possibly be a notch above some of our recent bargain basement acquisitions.

If nothing else we likely upgraded our depth, so they can take a young guy and if he is not cutting it yet, no crisis.
