He's gotten progressively worse every year. Can't say I blame the Niners for structuring the contract in the manner that they did.

Wasn't this news right aftee him and Dalton signed their contracts?

NFL contracts are mostly fluff anyways.

EDIT: Yep, Cork Gaines (seriously?) cites a June PFT article for his work here. Lazy job Cork.

Lets hope Cams contract as similarly written. It's amazing if you look at say the top 15 QB contracts MAYBE half are worth that money. But it's what the position gets paid.

i was all for drafting cam and a big fan, but i don't think i'd pay him. throw on his latest presser with everything we've seen, whole lotta nope. god's fantasy team? trying to sound deep? he's a magical thinker. he can't even speak english, and he hasn't bothered to learn. how can i think he's ever going to put in the work its gonna take and even if he did would he ever understand defenses the way he needs to? watching da get us in and out of plays, the right ones for the most part, i guess i think we need to build the team and find a cheaper qb in the draft. 3-8-1 is not worth it.

I was watching ESPN the other night after the MNF game. Dilfer and Young seem to think that teams are heading back in the direction of the traditional pocket passer.

The dual threat QB experiment has failed. CK7, CN, and RGIII may have momentarily given defenses problems, but it seems DC's throughout the league have figured out how to game plan these types and limit their effectiveness.

While there have been some exceptions, few dual threat QB's have made a lasting impact on the game. It's also one of the major reasons we don't see triple option QB's in the league that have the ability to throw the ball.

I think a mobile, athletic QB who can extend plays and be an effective pocket passer (I'm thinking one of the best examples currently is Rogers and even Luck) is hard to beat.

The 'dual threat' QB can be a misconception if the only real threat is the option along with questionable pocket passing effectiveness.

Problem is, most of the current 'dual threats' aren't great pocket passers.
