NFL Drug testing

I was always under the impression, primarily from listening to NFL radio and other sports radio that the players were only tested during the off season and maybe only twice. NOT. My friend whos son is the punter for the Browns told me that everyone is subject to randoms 24/7. He has been called in the off season and asked where he was and that NFL representatives came to him in Hawaii (he was on vacation) and performed the test in his hotel room. This makes you wonder why a player would risk smoking weed when he is apt to get popped anywhere. Also Josh Gordon is probably NOT going to get a year as his sample was .16 mg where the limit is .15. the backup sample (same as first) was .13mg. He may get suspended still but I doubt it's not for the entire year

 

Your friends son's story doesn't dispute the common knowledge though.
And even if they can test 24/7/365... that doesn't mean they do

 

Yep. I was just under the impression the players were not tested at all in the off season. Spencer has been tested 4 times this year alone he's told me. If your on "the program" you can count on getting popped at least once a week.

 

In the very near furture the NFL will either levy small fines with no suspensions for weed or simply not test for it at all. And that's a good thing.

 

Forget what I said (insert comments here) Gordon suspended a year

 

eh, they really knew where he was and the NFL reps really just needed an excuse for a free Hawaii trip.
