Panthers vs. Lions Running Commentary

Outside Suh who Cam foolishly called donkey dong who do you think can adversely stop us from running. Im guessing DeAngelo sits

 

They have a good starting front. They don't have our defensive line depth, but I don't think it's a stretch to call their starting four as good if not better than ours. Fairly is pretty good when he's motivated. That's a hard interior to move against. James Jones is solid run stopping, five technique end (similar to the Red Bryant role) and Ansah is a very strong and athletic specimen on the other side. Tulloch is a thumping middle linebacker. It will be tough sledding.

 

The Giants foolishly tried man covering Calvin Johnson with Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (who still sucks) and that led to some of Detroit's big plays, most notably their opening touchdown when DRC lost Calvin on a scramble drill. Even though our DB's aren't particularly good individually, I think our scheme will help keep some of those big plays from happening.

 

I guess I should preface all of this by saying that the Giants are an incredible fucking mess right now. Somehow I don't think Detroit will be quite as prolific on the road against a better defense.

 

Fairley getting fat as shit in his contract year is one of the more bizarre things I've seen lately.

 

Their rookie kicker has been shaky, which could matter since I expect a close game. Hopefully Gano has his shit together.
