He has two years left on his original contract; this year and next year.

I doubt JH extends his contract w/ the 49ers as he and GM Trent Balke have a serious personality conflict and JH wants more control over personnel matters (draft and free agency).

My guess is that JH will coach out his current deal and defensive line coach Jim Tomsula will be our next head coach.

Actually, it's not BS. JT interviewed for the Vikings and Browns jobs this past off season. He is very well respected w/ in the league.

Respect in the league is pretty meaningless, there have been lots of shit coaches that were well respected going into the job.

I wonder what success ratio for "highly respected" position coaches/coordinators becoming decent head coaches is....30% ? I'll bet the success rate for college head coaches like Harbaugh is better...something like 40-50%. Even Belichick took two tries to make it.

Well you should be able to get a bead on that percentage since there are an awful lot of college guys in those jobs now. Or is it a lot of awful...

Tomsula will certainly get an interview, but I imagine they'll aim much higher initially. David Shaw would be my first guess. I also think there's a good chance the niners and Harbaugh agree to a buyout before a lame duck 2015. No way he stays there longterm. He'll be a Parcells-type who has success with multiple teams while also wearing out his welcome everywhere.
