JAMIE SZOT MEMORIAL BASEBALL TOURNAMENT​

A FUNDRAISER TO BENEFIT JAYSON AND NIK SZOT​

Saturday &Sunday, October 25 & 26, 2014​

Please join the Mallard Creek and North Mecklenburg High School baseball teams and friends of the Szot family as we come together to assist the surviving sons of Jamie Szot, Jayson and Nik.


In order to raise much needed funds for the ongoing and future educational expenses of Jayson and Nik, we are hosting a baseball tournament at Mallard Creek and North Mecklenburg High Schools for 13Uand 18U baseball teams. For those who did not have the opportunity to get to know Jamie, who died on August 13, he was the loving father to Nik and Jayson. In spite of the tragedy of their father’s death, Nik and Jayson have persevered. Nik started his freshman year as a student and baseball player at Rockingham Community College and Jayson began his 8th grade year as a student at Ridge Road Middle School.

The boys shared many great times with their father but it was sports, particularly baseball, that brought the family together. Jamie never missed a middle school, high school or travel team game. If you ever talked to Jamie it did not take long for his pride in his boys to show and his support meant everything to the boys. Nik and Jayson would tell you they had the greatest Dad in the world.

Through the generous donations of time and efforts of many individuals, 100% of all funds raised in this tournament will be placed into separate, dedicated accounts to provide for the educational expenses of Nik and Jayson. The tournament details are as follows:

1. Six teams at each age group playing 4 games in a round robin setting.

2. Games will be played at the Mallard Creek and North Meck High School fields.

3. Game times: 9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, 7pm both days.

4. Entrance Fees: 18U teams $500; 13U teams $400. Make checks payable to Mallard Creek Athletic Booster Club.

Our goal is to provide coaches, players and their families with a fun, meaningful baseball event while reaching out to make a difference in the lives of these two young men. We will have a silent auction, 50/50 raffles, baseball trivia contests and a concession stand offering breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as snacks (including homemade food items) – traditional baseball fare and much more!!
